It’s time for another breakfast recipe and this time it’s two verrrry green ones! Don’t let the looks deceive you though: they are actually very tasty.
I love smoothies for breakfast because it makes me feel like I am ready to take on the day with all those extra vitamins. No matter what happens next! And we all know how much I love oatmeal 😉 This matcha version is great for waking up!
I go to the gym around 3 times a week now depending on how busy I am with other things. I don’t do this because I want to be a fitgirl! I could never live the lifestyle they have, or at least appear to have on Instagram. However, I’m so crazy about food I sort of need to compensate!
Of course I am, like most girls my age, insecure about the way I look. So that possibly drives me to work out more than I’d like to admit. But I want to convince myself to go to the gym because I want to, because it makes me feel better, and not because I “have to”. You know what I mean?
Today I actually forced myself into the weights area to lift some dumbbells… Boy did I feel out of place! All these buff guys and then there’s me, little girl, lifting those tiny weights… HAHA! But who cares right? (I know I do) I have every right to be there lifting those tiny weights as they have to be there lifting those 10 times heavier weights. Who cares.
I posted this picture on Instagram a while ago, and figured people liked green oatmeal… So I decided to share the recipe 🙂
The boyfriend bought me those cute jars, one for smoothies and one for random things, to celebrate my 200 followers on Instagram. I get so happy from just looking at it! I’m a sucker for cute jars and anything that belongs in the kitchen.
I already opened the presents before he could say “surprise!” I love celebrating little things so errrm. That’s my excuse. And I love presents. Anyway, that stupid fear of failure makes me focus more on what still needs to be done instead of the things I achieved. It sort of helps when someone makes me take the time to celebrate how far I’ve come.
This is more a metaphor for the rest of my life of course. 200 Instagram followers doesn’t seem like much, does it? But for me it’s an achievement as I work really hard to get this blog out there 🙂
Green breakfast smoothie
Mmmkay, so it’s time for me to share the green breakfast recipes. I’ll start with the smoothie!
I added the flax seeds because they are a great source of protein and fibre; I myself have noticed that it’s extremely helpful in the digestive system. Blood oranges are seasonal and very delicious, so I use them whenever I can!
- Kale, 2 cups
- Spinach, 1 cup
- Ginger, a piece of 2x2x1 cm
- Blood orange, 3 pieces juiced
- Lemon juice, a spoonful
- Water, 1 cup
- Broken flax seeds, 2 spoonfuls
- Optional: 1 orange + 1 plum or any leftover fruit
- Toss everything in a blender and let it mix for a few minutes.
- Pour in a glass and enjoy!
I love my oatmeal in the morning because it provides me with energy and I’m not hungry for a couple of hours.
The matcha I used adds quite a lot of health benefits as well: matcha prevents disease, enhances the mood and concentrations, boosts metabolism and calms the mind and body. There are many more health benefits, but I highlighted the most important ones in my opinion.
- Matcha powder, 2 teaspoons
- Oatmeal, 6 spoonfuls
- Milk, 8 spoonfuls
- Water, 2 spoonfuls
- Mix the matcha powder with the water. Try to get rid of all the lumps.
- Add the oatmeal and the milk. Stir.
- Put this in the microwave for 1.5-2 minutes.
- Coconut flakes
- Flax seeds
- Dried fruit
