Read about my experiences at this super fun dinner organised by BioToday! We met with foodies and bloggers (all girls!) and enjoyed a delicious bio meal.
One of the things I love most about blogging: meeting new people. When Louise and I saw the invitation for the ‘Meet the bloggers’ dinner in our town Breda, we knew we had to sign up right away! We met many lovely girls and had dinner in the pop-up restaurant that’s only there until January. Read more about my experiences in this blog!
I placed this post in the category ‘media event’, but that’s not completely right. Yes, me and other bloggers attended this dinner, but it was open to everyone with a passion for food! That’s what was so great about it: we met with all those lovely ladies, who were fellow foodies. At a certain point we realized it was easier to introduce ourselves with Instagram names instead, haha!
Four Dutch blogging ladies (Lindsey Happy Healthy, BeauBewust, HealthyfoodloveNL & de hippe vegetarier) posted a photo inviting foodies for a ‘meet the bloggers’ dinner. This basically meant that we would eat, chat, meet other foodies and get a chance to ask questions to the bloggers. It was a small and cosy gathering, with around 20 girls in total.
Meet the bloggers
We were welcomed with biotoday appetizers and a glass of prosecco. Not a bad start at all! (Except that I spilled mine all over the table. Oops) We first had a chance to meet and chat with everyone, and then we sat down for the dinner. The four of us would stay seated, and the bloggers would move from table to table with each course.
I can honestly say that I’ve never had this much fun with complete strangers. It was so comforting in a way, to speak with all those girls who have the same passion for food as I do! No one complained when we first wanted to take pictures of the food for five minutes: we all understood 😉
We spoke about food food food all night and I absolutely loved it. My kind of people! We all understood the struggles we went through with taking photos without daylight and shared many tips on how to improve our photos. I can’t wait to get started with some new material, thanks for sharing all your DIY tricks ladies!
It’s so weird how we all connected: food really does bring people together I suppose.
Yes, all the courses were explained before we ate and no, we didn’t really pay attention. We were too busy taking photos, making snaps and adding pictures to our Instagram stories! It caused quite a laugh when we realized no one knew exactly what we were going to eat, oops. Anyway, everything was biological and many of the main courses were raw in a way. Everything was soooo delicious: the starter with cured salmon was my favourite! All main courses were vegetarian, and possibly vegan too.
For dessert we got to try the new granola flavour: banana bread. Normally I don’t even like bananas, but this was quite nice!
As you all know, I love writing stories and I’m desperately trying to write down how the evening went and how much fun we had. However, I’m finding this quite difficult right now! At first I was super afraid that my anxiety would prevent me from enjoying the evening, but pretty much the contrary was true.
Of course, at times I found myself lost for words or awkward or whatever, but most of the night went so well! I felt like I was able to present myself in a way that I could be proud of: I was able to share my passion for food, and show some of my personality as well. This made me so incredibly happy: this is what I want to do! I want to talk about food all day every day, and it was such a relief to find that I could “survive” this event really well and
have heaps of fun!
Does that make sense? I even casually mentioned that I quit my education and am taking some time for myself now, which is something I usually hide even from people I already know. These past months I’ve learned that I’m not only super strict for myself, but I’m also not able to see the positive things I do. Now, however, I feel so proud that I managed so well!
And I’m trying to hold on to that feeling. I did it! I had so much fun! This is what I want to do, preferably all day every day! (And then I don’t necessarily mean the events, but also the talking/thinking about food part ;))
Afterwards we received some goodies from biotoday, which I am super happy with: strengthening tea, cranberry cookies & peanut bars. All organic and without sugar: can’t wait to try them! Louise and I also couldn’t resist to buy some items in the shop of the pop-up restaurant (‘Proeflokaal’ in Breda, it’s there until the end of January!), where they literally sold everything the brands (biotoday, raw, Smaakt) had to offer.
Even though I wanted to buy a year worth of food, I chose two items: puffed millet and puffed rice flakes. I’m going to use them for my granola!
That’s it for today guys, I hope my enthusiasm came across… I sure think so 😉 See you soon!
