This weekend we spent our time in our lovely apartment in Breda. As the boyfriend is always home quite late during the weekdays I’m usually the one who cooks, so this Sunday we decided to switch roles. He decided to prepare toasted wraps with shawarma, avocado and lettuce with some garlic sauce, and it was really good! And that for only €2,90 a person…
Usually we just pop the wraps in the microwave for 30 seconds but we were told that you have to pan fry them so they get nice and crisp. Definitely a good tip! Also, we usually eat wraps with chicken but swapping this for shawarma was a good idea. The avocado adds this creaminess that nearly replaces the sauce you’d normally add, and it’s sooo tasty!

We spent the weekend in Breda because the bf celebrated his birthday for family on Saturday. It was quite nice to have them over, I laughed so much my stomach hurt! My mom and brother were there, too. I really enjoyed seeing them get along with his family: I hope they will see each other on many more occasions.
Of course I was a little nervous: being a host always will bring some tension. His family members only stayed for a few hours though, which was way easier to handle. (My birthday lasted from 14:30 till 22:30!) It was fun, and good practice.
That night we were so lazy and full we decided to just eat crackers and cheese on the couch. We didn’t move at all, only to refill our glasses of wine and plug our laptops into chargers. Both on our own side of the couch but still together. Snug blankets, perfect!
Toasted wraps with shawarma, bell pepper, lettuce and avocado
Recipe is inspired by Gewoon wat een studentje ‘s avonds eet.
We ate this with the two of us and were completely full! It cost us €2,90 per person, and that was with loaaads of avocado. You can always add more lettuce instead.
- Wraps, 6 small
- Shawarma, 250g
- Avocado, 2 pieces
- Bell pepper, 1 red
- Lettuce, 150g (sliced and washed)
- Garlic sauce
- Season the meat if it isn't seasoned yet. Toss in a pan with some olive oil, and cook until done.
- Meanwhile, start slicing the avocado and bell pepper in pieces.
- Put everything in small bowls and place on the table.
- Put the wraps in the pan for around 1 minute until warm.
- Place some meat, lettuce, bell pepper and avocado on the wrap and top with some sauce. Roll up and you're ready to eat! This might get messy...
